Firewire Films Ignites Video Production
FireWire Films is a digital video production company based in Franklin, MA. Founded by Chris Ronzio at age 14, FireWire has experienced tremendous growth over the past year, and is now one of the premiere multimedia production companies in New England. Ronzio, who is currently a student in Bentley's Management program, has always had a passion for business and an insatiable entrepreneurial spirit. When he founded FireWire Films, Ronzio recognized the need for a company that could produce top quality digital videos and broadcast quality footage. So far, his vision has carried the company a long way from its humble beginnings. Ronzio now manages close to fifteen employees, and his company took third place in the New England Regional Competition for the 2007 Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards. Ronzio continues to cleverly utilize developing technologies to allow for a wide range of compatibility. According to the company site, "All videos are shot using 3 CCD (3 chip) Mini DV Cameras for premium broadcast quality footage. Duplications of videos can be made in DVD, Mini DV, S-VHS, VHS, VHS-C, or Hi-8. Multiple copies can be made to accommodate each customer's unique needs." In addition, FireWire Films now has an online store where customers
can purchase any content in any format they wish. Ronzio also expanded his video production services into diverse verticals, including weddings, corporate events, commercials, and even music videos. Check out the FireWire portfolio. The future of FireWire Films looks exciting. With his management expertise and the growing importance of digital video as an online medium, Ronzio should have no trouble finding clients and expanding the company. Still, you would think FireWire's website would feature more video content, even if only a brief trailer, to showcase the company's work. Also, I assumed the site would have a blog or maybe some testimonials to communicate with its customer base, but it doesn't. Finally, the Flash interface gave me a bit of a usability headache, but the company's strength is video, not web design, so I can look past that. Either way, I think the company needs to do a better job of showcasing their top-notch video production work online where potential customers can engage with the brand FireWire has to offer.
