It is getting that time of year again, when the summer is finally over, kids are going back to school, and for some people, time to go through and clear out some of the unwanted items in the home. While it can be great to get rid of a bunch of stuff you don’t need or want anymore, it can also be an arduous task. Many people may have large houses, big garages, and some of the items that have collected over the years can be a little overwhelming.
There are other factors that make house clearing a chore as well. Big items like furniture can’t just be taken away by the rubbish collectors. Usually you have two types of furnishings. You may have some furniture that is broken, and the reason why you’ve kept it so long is that you planned on fixing it, but just never gotten around to doing so. On the other hand you may have furniture that is perfectly good, maybe slightly used, but you are just no longer using it. Sure you can take some of it down to the landfill, but it is a waste if someone else can put it to good use, right? The problem is that a lot of people simply don’t know where to take these unwanted, or slightly damaged items where they can be refurbished and either given or sold to someone else who needs them.
Then you have electronics. Whether it is your old worn out television, computer, laptop or even that out of date VCR, you can’t just throw these items out. For one thing they have electronic components that, if left in a landfill can contaminate the ground and water table. Many places won’t even take these electronics because of this. Your best bet is to have them recycled. There are many companies that take this equipment, and fix and renovate them. At the very least strip them down to their basic components and use them elsewhere, or recycle parts that can’t be used, making something else out of them. However, the problem here is finding a company that is going to take these items and recycle them.
Sometimes people store items and completely forget about them. Some of these could be extremely valuable. You see shows like Antiques Roadshow where people come in with some item they may have found in an attic or basement of one of their relatives, and although they didn’t think much of it at the time, discovered it was worth thousands of pounds or more. Wouldn’t it be cool to find something like that hidden around your house?
There are other problems that can go along with general house clearance as well. If you are an older person, it may be difficult to move stuff around to get rid of it. Other people are just too busy, and don’t have the time or the inclination to do cleaning on their own. Some people just don’t know where to begin, and each time they try to get started, they are so overwhelmed that they end up quitting in just a short period of time.
Whether you are experiencing one or all of these problems when it comes to getting your house cleared out, don’t feel bad, you are not alone. If you live in the UK, a company called Just Clear is perfect for all your house clearing needs. They are licensed, bonded, and insured. They also have the equipment and the manpower to come to your home and get all the cluttered cleared out and organized in no time.
One of the best things about this company is that instead of just carting your unwanted items to the landfill, they specialize in finding ways to reuse and recycle as much as possible.
