Elevator Pitch Competition

Are you looking for free advertising space, press coverage, or introductions to venture capitalists for potential investment? If so, check out our elevator video pitch competition on Vator.tv, a social network and media site for start-ups, entrepreneurs, and investors. We've partnered with the funded start-up becasue we share the same goals; to discover great companies and technologies, introduce them to the world, and analyze their models, stories, and impact they may have on you and I.

Are you able to pitch your company in under a minute, or even thirty seconds? Well, you should be able to do it in one sentence. The easiest way to do this is to compare your model to another one (or two if it is a combination) that people already know and understand. Just twist the story to make it specific to your company. You'll likely need a couple different versions if an individual isn't familiar with the other companies. Either way, its important to be able to pitch your start-up in different contexts. The simple reason for this is that people come to understand concepts, models, ideas, or value propositions by examining them from different angles or view points.Continue Reading...

How often do you have sex? Better yet, how often do you actually keep track of your partners? According to a survey by Robert Ianuale, MyBlackBook's Founder and recent graduate from NYIT, only 1 in 3 young adults log their activity. Now you can move those bedpost notches online to MyBlackBook to store your records, monitor your activity, and calculate your chances of contracting a range of STD's. There's already over 14,000 people logging on average 7 different partners with 13 sessions each.

You would think that there a higher percentage of woman on the site because they're usually more responsible; however, the majority of users, 72.75% to be exact, are actually male. Interestingly though, woman on the site are more consistent while men log on infrequently. Robert has calculated that you can reduce your chances of contracting some diseases by between .02-.15% by being more conscientious. People who are more willing to put in the extra effort to log their activity are probably more likely to reach over to their drawer and pull out those condoms.

The site is actually pretty neat and you can even create charts based on your statistics. The startup even has a patent pending technology, called VDNote, that allows you to see how your sexual habits put you at risk for different STDs. The site explains that "VDNote is geared to each individuals account, and although most of the logic behind VDNote is a secret, the percentages that we provide to you are based on national sexually transmitted disease rates, and the probability of obtaining the particular STD reflects your sexual habits contained in your MyBlackBook account."Continue Reading...
