Calnet: Solving Mmanagement Problems At McDonalds

Calnet, founded by award winning entrepreneur Erik Fjellborg in 2005, has just recently been selected to deploy their employee management software in all 1192 McDonald's restaurants in the UK. The software provides a solution to a problem discovered at McDonalds that has a large part time work schedule and high rate of turnover. As you can imagine, this type of workforce requires a great deal of scheduling, rescheduling, management of who is working when and what times aren't filled, who is taking time off, etc. It's actually pretty surprising that no one previously created an efficient system for managing these issues. Erik's ability to recognize this unsolved problem and supply an innovative solution has led him to win several awards, including Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Stockholm (2007), Best Innovative Solution at a GSEA competition in Chicago (2007), and Best Student Company in Sweden for working full time on both school and his business.
